Tonight promises another exciting night of action as the Gand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament begins. We’ll also hear from Orange Cassidy after his loss at AEW All Out. The updated match card is as follows:

The opening package for the show airs.


Orange Cassidy’s music plays and he walks out to the ring. He gets on the mic and thanks the fans. He then says he was told to stay home but he was not going to do that. He says that he will be here every week because he is Orange Cassidy and he does not have a catchphrase.

AEW International Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. AR Fox

Jon Moxley’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. AR Fox’s theme song plays and he comes out to the ring with Darby Allin.

The match begins and Fox kicks Moxley. He attacks him in the corner. Moxley comes back with some chops of his own. Fox sent to the apron. He comes back with a springboard dropkick sending Moxley out of the ring. Fox dives onto Moxley. He sends Moxley into the ring.

Moxley kicks Fox in the face and then drops him to the mat. Fox fights back with a DDT. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Moxley rolls out of the ring. He sends Fox into the barricade before throwing him into the crowd.

*Commercial break*

Moxley kicks Fox multiple times but he comes back with an enzuigiri. Fox with a neckbreaker. He goes for an elbow in the corner but Moxley catches him in a choke hold but he escapes and hits a cutter. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Moxley rolls out of the ring.

Fox hits a moonsault on Moxley. He sends him into the ring and hits a 450 splash. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Moxley with the anvil elbows. He then hits him with a King Kong lariat and follows it up with Deathrider for the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley (c)

Nick Wayne is backstage. He runs into Christian who says Wayne’s father was worse than he thought he was. He says Darby isn’t the right mentor for him and he should be looking at a champion to mentor him. Christian then walks away.

TBS Championship: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Emi Sakura

Kris Statlander’s theme song plays and she walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Emi Sakura’s music plays and she comes out to the ring.

The match begins and Sakura hits the Tiger driver. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Statlander rolls to the apron. Sakura with a crossbody sending Statlander to the floor. She hits another crossbody on Statlander against the steps. She sends her into the ring. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Sakura knocks down Statlander with a clothesline. Both women knock each other down. Statlander with an elbow drop on Sakura. Sakura fights back and plants Statlander. She then hits a backbreaker on Statlander. Cover! 1….2….kick out.

Sakura climbs the top rope but is stopped by Statlander who drives her to the mat. She then hits a discus lariat and follows it with the Wednesday night fever for the win.

Winner: Kris Statlander (c)

Roderick Strong is backstage and he says his parents didn’t know how to be parents. He says their relationship was everything he knew he never wanted. He says wrestling gave him an opportunity to be someone. He says it is everything to him but Adam already knew that and he says he will win the Grand Slam Tournament alone.

Don Callis comes out to the announcer’s booth.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Aussie Open

Chris Jericho’s music plays and he walks to the ring with Sammy Guevara. Aussie Open’s music plays and they come down to the ring.

The match begins with Jericho and Davis. Jericho chops Davis. Davis knocks down Jericho. He attacks Jericho in the corner. Jericho tags out and Sammy attacks Davis. Davis comes back with a clothesline. He tags out and Fletcher hits a bodyslam.

Both men exchange strikes. Sammy with a corkscrew dropkick. He tags out and they hit a suplex on Fletcher.

*Commercial break*

Sammy tags out and Jericho knocks down Davis. Jericho goes for an axehandle but he is caught and hit with a forearm smash. Davis tags out. Sammy hits the cutter on Davis. Jericho hits Fletcher with the codebreaker. Fletcher is sent to the apron and Jericho hits the dropkick. Sammy dives onto Aussie Open.

Jericho dives but catches Sammy by accident. Davis sends Jericho into the ring and they hit the Aussie arrow. Cover! 1…..2….kick out. Sammy hits the Spanish fly on Davis. Jericho goes for Walls of Jericho but Fletcher escapes and hits a superkick. He then hits a brainbuster on Jericho. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Jericho accidentally knocks Sammy. He hits the Judas effect on Fletcher for the win.

Winner: Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara

Sammy is not happy and they both shove each other. AEW security comes out to separate them Sammy walks away and leaves through the audience.

*Commercial break*

Renee interviews Don Callis and Takeshita. Callis says he and Takeshita beat Omega twice in seven days. He says they are going to have a celebration next week and they will unveil Takeshita’s next target.

MJF’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. He gets on the mic and says he and Adam Cole defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship and he was told he has to wrestle again on September 20th but then he realized that date is Grand Slam. He says whoever wins the Grand Slam Tournament is going to find out that no one is on his level.

MJF says one person needs to be taught a certain lesson. Samoa Joe’s music hits and he walks to the ring. Samoa Joe says he wanted to get a front-row seat to hear what MJF was about to say. He asks him what is the problem. MJF insults Joe.

Joe asks him one more time what is the problem. MJF says Joe called him kid twice. He says he happens to be a creative guy himself. He then mocks Joe. Joe says MJF is having a hard time comprehending what is going on. He asks one more time what is his problem. MJF says he will knock his teeth down his throat if he calls him kid one more time.

MJF says that’s how he wants him to react and says there is a tournament if he wants to wrestle the champion. MJF says back when he was 19 years old he had a tryout with WWE and he knocked it out of the park. He then says Regal pulled him aside and told him he was too young and asked for an email once a month but he blew him off.

MJF says he knocked Regal’s ass out and sent him back to NXT where he belongs. MJF tells Joe he is next. He says he was informed that he would walk Joe down to the ring as a security guard. He then says Joe took a 19-year-old kid and shoved him into a brick wall and laughed.

MJF says he knows why Joe did that. He says he did that because he was a kid but now he’s full grown. He says he is a generational talent. MJF asks Joe to stay out of his way. Joe says that was a beautiful point but he didn’t think of him as a kid when he pushed him. He says he thought MJF was a little b***h. MJF slaps Joe. Joe says MJF is trying to provoke him but he won’t take the bait. He says he is going to win the Grand Slam Tournament and the come after him.

As MJF leaves the ring, Joe attacks him. He then takes the title and raises it up but MJF low blows him and bites him. He attacks Joe in the corner. Joe plants MJF to the mat. Adam Cole comes down to the ring and chases Joe away. The doctors come out to check on MJF. Joe says he will tear him to pieces the next time they face each other.

Roderick Strong comes out with The Kingdom and he argues with Cole. Cole walks away and Strong walks to the ring.

Grand Slam Tournament Quarterfinal: Trent Beretta vs. Roderick Strong

Best Friends’ music plays and they come out to the ring.

The match begins and Strong takes down Trent. He goes to work on Strong. Strong knocks down Trent. Strong with a knee strike. Both men exchange strikes. Strong hits a backbreaker.

Trent comes back with a back suplex. He attacks Strong in the corner and follows it with the tornado DDT sending him out of the ring. Strong sends Trent into the post. He then slams Trent on the apron.

*Commercial break*

Trent with multiple German suplexes on Strong. He then hits a Death Valley driver. Strong with a kick on Trent. Strong places Trent on the top rope. Trent goes for the hurricanrana but Strong rolls through and goes for strong hold but Trent rolls him up but he can’t get the win.

Trent hits the piledriver. Cover! 1….2…..Strong gets his foot on the rope. Strong with a jumping knee strike. He then hits the backbreaker for the win.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Renee interviews Toni Storm who says she doesn’t remember costing Soho the TBS Championship. She says they must look forward. She says she is going to give a sneak peek into her life.

Adam Page’s music hits and he walks to the ring.

*Commercial break*

Tony congratulates Page who says he gave $50,000 to the Chicago Public Education Fund after winning the Battle Royale. He says he wants to look forward. Swerve Strickland’s music plays and he comes down to the ring.

Prince Nana asks Tony to leave the ring. He asks the fans to show some respect for Swerve Strickland. Swerve says being in a coffin for two weeks gave him some clarity. He says the first people he thought of as soon as he got out was Page. He mocks Page’s charity work.

He says he is ashamed for Page. He says Page was the cornerstone of the company and he was handpicked to be the franchise player. He says Page doesn’t want his spot anymore.

He says Page doesn’t have title matches because he took a backseat to The Elite. He says if he would have gotten the opportunities Page has gotten, he would’ve been World Champion. He asks Page to ride away into the sunset and give him his spot or he should show everyone what he is all about. He says Page could fight him for that spot but he warns him that he doesn’t have any regard for anyone.

He says he is coming for the spot that he doesn’t want. Page says if Swerve wants a match, he can go to the back because he is done with this. He then walks away but Swerve tells him his wife and kids are watching him walk away. Page gets back to the ring and yells at Swerve. Brian Cage attacks him from behind and hits the drill claw.

Grand Slam Tournament Quarter Final: Darby Allin vs. Nick Wayne

Darby Allin’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Nick Wayne’s theme song plays next and he comes down to the ring.

The match begins and Darby takes Nick down. Nick rolls out of the ring. Darby goes for a suicide dive and misses.

*Commercial break*

Wayne with a superplex on Darby and then follows it with the fisherman buster. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Wayne goes for a frog splash but Darby gets his knees up. Darby with the shotgun dropkick. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Darby locks in the figure four leg lock. Wayne gets out of it. They both knock each other down after colliding in the ring.

Both men exchange strikes. Darby gets on the mic and asks Nick to hit him harder. Nick punches him but Darby puts his hand behind his back. Nick superkicks him. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Christian’s music plays and he comes out.

*Commercial break*

Wayne with a jumping knee. He hits a hurricanrana on Darby. Wayne climbs the top rope and hits a frog splash. He sends Darby into the ring and hits a cutter. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Wayne goes for a cutter off the top rope but he is pushed down. He is unable to go for the coffin drop. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Wayne goes for the cutter but Darby counts and hits a crossbody. He then hits Code Red. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Darby locks him in a submission hold and stomps his head and the match is over.

Winner: Darby Allin
