CM Punk’s run in WWE came to a shocking halt after the Royal Rumble in 2014 when he was frustrated with the company, which led to him walking out. His relationship with WWE never quite improved and during that time, The Rock called up CM Punk after an episode of RAW. Now it appears Triple H had an amusing reaction to what The Rock did.

Back in 2017, scenes for the Fighting with My Family film about Saraya and her family were recorded at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California after Monday Night RAW.

The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions was one of the production companies behind the film. He was also present during that episode of RAW and spoke to the crowd after the show went off the air. There was a point when the crowd began to chant ‘CM Punk’. The Rock then called up CM Punk but the call was not answered and he left a voicemail instead.

The Rock was completely oblivious to the fact that WWE was engaged in a legal battle with CM Punk at the time. While speaking on The Masked Man Show, Senior Vice President at Seven Bucks Productions Brian Gewirtz recalled Triple H’s amusing response to The Rock calling CM Punk.

The only time it ever kind of maybe qualified (possibly having to cut someone’s microphone) is when we were shooting Fighting with my Family at Staples Center and The Rock was in the ring and they’re chanting CM Punk and Rock, he doesn’t know what’s going on with the whole Punk-WWE backstage stuff and he pulls out his phone and is like, ‘Hey! What if I called CM Punk right now!?’ And then Triple H turns to me back in Gorilla and was like, ‘Someone wanna remind him we’re in a f******* lawsuit with this guy!’ And Punk didn’t answer. He was doing something else at the time and so, it didn’t really matter and I think it was more said — I think Triple H said it, kind of tongue-in-cheek. He was not legitimately angry.

CM Punk is currently a mainstay on AEW television again, but trouble has reared its ugly head due to all the drama associated with him again this week. Regardless, fans will never forget The Rock calling Punk out of nowhere on that fateful day in 2017 and that’s all that matters.
