WWE and AEW have often been compared to each other, primarily due to the fact that they are both pro wrestling companies. It appears that WWE has pulled away in recent memory, leaving many to critique Tony Khan’s booking in a big way.

Tony Khan just added another two-hour show to AEW’s weekly lineup, so there is plenty of time for AEW to develop stories. Konnan is of the opinion that AEW could improve a lot, because WWE is excelling in big ways.

During his Keeping it 100 podcast, Konnan touched on AEW and WWE’s booking. He said that WWE is doing a much better job booking their angles, especially with cliffhangers, leaving things open to progress the next week.

“I hate to do this because they always say that, ‘Oh you’re sucking WWE. When WWE sucked, we buried them every f*cking week. When they say that you don’t bury Rey or Dominik, like when Rey did that eye angle, I buried him. You know what I’m saying. So at the end of the day, WWE does such a better job at leaving cliffhangers and doing angles throughout the show. It’s not that hard if you have been watching wrestling your whole life like Tony [Khan] has or the guys around them.”

AEW has a lot of finality to their booking, and often times after big events there are several stories closed, which nothing is really in motion. That is an issue that WWE doesn’t seem to have, because even after an epic event like Money in the Bank, they still have plenty of things in motion.

Tony Khan has been called a money mark, bad booker, and irrational thinker by some fans, while others sing his praises by lauding AEW’s bold decisions and smash mouth wrestling format. Only time will tell how this story pans out, because AEW and WWE are going to keep going down their own paths.

WWE leavs a lot open for the future, but how could Tony Khan improve AEW’s booking so it has the samy feel? Sound off in the comments!
