Former WWE star Aiden English (Matthew Rehwoldt), has confirmed that he is currently a free agent, signaling a potential return to in-ring competition.

Since his departure from WWE in April 2020, Rehwoldt has worked for various promotions including NJPW, IMPACT, and numerous independent wrestling promotions. In an interview with Developmentally Speaking, Rehwoldt stated that he does not have an exclusive contract with any company.

“I am not tied down anywhere so I’m also using this opportunity to explore other passions, stuff outside of wrestling.”

Rehwoldt expressed his desire to explore different opportunities and pursue his passions beyond wrestling. He mentioned his involvement in commentary for IMPACT Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, as well as his participation in independent promotions such as B.R.C.W. and Wrestling REVOLVER.

“I mean, I’m trying to do a little bit of everything. I’m taking advantage of this moment. Obviously, I do commentary for IMPACT Wrestling as well as New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

“A couple of independents here like B.R.C.W. based out of here in Florida and a few others here and I would be remiss if I didn’t say Wrestling REVOLVER, Sami Callihan’s home promotion which is really, really cool if you haven’t checked that out.

“Usually runs in places like Ohio and Iowa but really badass promotion. So I do those but I am a free wheelin’, free dealin’ agent.

As a free agent, Rehwoldt has the freedom to explore various avenues and pursue other interests outside of wrestling. Although his last in-ring appearance was at an IMPACT TV taping in May 2022, Rehwoldt’s confirmation as a free agent suggests that he may be considering a return to the squared circle in the future.
