WWE is going through a huge change as Endeavor is merging the company with the UFC. A new company, TKO Holdings Group, came out of the situation, and WWE employees were also ordered to make a return to headquarters. This caused some to worry that cuts are coming.

A rumor started making the rounds last week that WWE is firing employees already. While turnover at company WWE’s size is impossible to stop, there have been no mass releases in the name of the merger. After all, many within WWE feared they would start firing people, and a return to HQ was just the first step of that.

Ringside News reached out to inquire whether WWE has started firing people. We were told by a tenured member of the WWE staff that they are not aware of any such firings.

WWE fired a ton of people throughout the pandemic. Sweeping cuts came through for the roster, and the office as well. Travel, touring, and other marketing departments were gutted, because the company changed so much during the last couple of years.

Stephanie McMahon’s staff was also dismantled, and then she ironically returned to WWE for a stint as co-CEO. At this time, we have not heard about any other sweeping releases coming through at WWE headquarters.

While any merger will likely include a time when redundancies are examined, and possibly sorted out by reassigning an employee or firing them, that hasn’t gone down yet.

It is also important to note that WWE and UFC will still act as two separate companies under the same TKO Holdings Group umbrella, so there might not be numerous firings in this situation. Then again, you never know what can happen in business, especially WWE’s business.

What’s your take on WWE firing employees due to the merger? Do you think that this makes sense if it happens? Sound off in the comments!
