AEW President Tony Khan is very passionate about pro wrestling and that is without question. Despite this, Khan has made several questionable booking decisions that irritated people. That being said, he tends not to fire talent unless necessary. Now it appears Khan was mocked for not having the guts to fire AEW talent.

It is a known fact that AEW simply has far too many talent in its roster, making it bloated in the process. This problem was slightly alleviated due to AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation as it gave exposure to underused talent.

As previously reported, AEW will be canceling AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation as part of its new deal with Warner Bros Discovery. This is due to AEW Collision taking place on Saturdays next month.

While speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, pro wrestling veteran Jim Cornette talked about the demise of the two YouTube shows. Cornette didn’t seem too bothered by their removal and then went on to mock Tony Khan for not firing AEW talent.

“It’s not like these were fully formed television shows with interviews, and angles, and ready to go out. It’s just meaningless matches with their underneath talent that Tony amassed and has never had the ba*ls to give notice to, cut contracts, cut costs, whatever — for people he’s been paying for years.”

AEW Collision will be airing next month and will feature CM Punk as the main attraction. We will have to wait and see whether the roster split in AEW will end up benefiting the company.
