Jon Moxley Confirmed for NJPW Resurgence Event

Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will return to the ring at NJPW Resurgence on May 21, according to a recent announcement by NJPW. The event will take place in Long Beach, California, and will feature Moxley in his first match since October 2021, when he appeared at The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street.

Although Moxley’s opponent has not been named, NJPW has promised an “increasingly stacked lineup” for the event, which includes Hiroshi Tanahashi and Will Ospreay in a match with significant IWGP United States Championship implications. Additionally, the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship will be introduced at the event.

Moxley’s last NJPW appearance was in October 2021 at The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street in New York, where he appeared as a mystery partner in an elimination main event on the surprise card. Fans must go back to last summer for the last officially announced appearance by Moxley in an NJPW ring, which was a brutal deathmatch with El Desperado at Music City Mayhem.
