The Hurt Business was composed of Bobby Lashley, MVP, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin, and they made a lasting impact during their time in WWE. The group helped elevate all the members and fans truly felt they were on the cusp of greatness. Unfortunately, they were disbanded far too early in WWE and this disappointed fans. There were also talks of Ricochet being included in the faction, but that never happened. Now it seems MVP finally explained why Ricochet wasn’t chosen for the faction.

Even Roman Reigns felt that the dissolution of The Hurt Business was too soon. Although there was a brief attempt at a reunion, it was ultimately short-lived. This only further disappointed fans in a big way.

Bobby Lashley previously said the breakup ‘hurt his heart.’ That said, the faction has yet to make its return to WWE television. While the four were the original members of the faction, WWE had plans to include more. Ricochet even revealed that he was supposed to be one of the members of the faction.

While speaking with Inside The Ropes, MVP talked about Cedric Alexander being added to The Hurt Business. MVP then revealed that Ricochet wasn’t included in the group because he had a better chance of making it on his own.

“At that point, we felt that, you know, Apollo (Crews) is being established on his own and we came down to Ricochet and Cedric (Alexander for a spot in The Hurt Business) and we felt that Ricochet stood a better chance of being successful on his own, whereas Cedric would do better from his association with us and so far, I think I was pretty accurate in that assessment.”

The Hurt Business’ return is not confirmed yet either. Regardless, there might come a time when The Hurt Business will make its triumphant return to WWE television. In the meantime, they have all kept themselves busy in numerous ways.

Do you agree that Ricochet had a better chance of succeeding on his own, or do you think he would have benefited from being part of the faction? Leave a comment.
