Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE last year at WrestleMania 38 after he spent three years in AEW. He immediately started feuding with Seth Rollins and had a series of classic matches with The Visionary. That being said, it seems Rhodes believes GUNTHER vs Sheamus at WWE Clash At The Castle was superior to his Hell In A Cell match with Seth Rollins.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins had three unforgettable bouts since last year. Their Hell In A Cell match in particular has been hailed as an all-time classic, thanks to Cody Rhodes wrestling through a torn pectoral muscle injury.

Cody Rhodes would end up defeating Seth Rollins at WWE Hell In A Cell and would then take a few months off in order to recuperate from his injury. Rhodes’ courage in the face of adversity definitely helped him become a huge star for fans and pro wrestlers alike.

While speaking on Sheamus’ Celtic Warrior Workouts, Cody Rhodes compared his Hell in a Cell match with Seth Rollins to Sheamus’ match against GUNTHER at WWE Clash At the Castle. Rhodes stated that he believes Sheamus’ match was superior to his own match.

“I do want to go on record, I know there was this big discussion over Gunther vs. Sheamus and me vs. Seth. Listen, I’ll tell you right here, the better match was their match. I appreciate that people appreciated what I was going through and what I did, but I’m the worst when it comes to talking about the ‘pec match’ because you’re supposed to make this big, Curt Schilling bloody sock moment. To me, it was what I was always going to do. They would have had to legit tase me and handcuff me for me to not go out there.”

Both matches got the coveted 5* rating from Dave Meltzer, so it is simply a matter of personal preference when it comes to picking their favorite among the two. Regardless, both WWE Superstars are proud of what they accomplished and that is all that matters.

What’s your take on what Cody Rhodes said? Do you think Sheamus’ match was better than Cody Rhodes’ bout? Sound off in the comments!
