WWE has a lot of plans in motion on the road to WrestleMania. One big match was booked this week on RAW, but this is also a collision that WWE had in mind months ago, but schedules couldn’t align.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE had plans for Edge vs Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match during the Royal Rumble, but that match didn’t happen. Instead, Edge simply returned at the pay-per-view during the Royal Rumble match, because he couldn’t make the build for the event due to filming the Percy Jackson series for Disney+.

Edge vs Finn Balor was booked this week on WWE RAW, and that will get us a lot closer to a big dream gimmick match that WWE has in mind. Now that we are on the road to WrestleMania, that big match is finally coming together.

They had plans for Brood Edge vs Demon Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match, but it was moved, because Edge was doing a TV show. So, I presume by him mentioning demon, that is still the direction we’re going.

We still have to do the angles. They announced the Hell in a Cell, and if it goes the way it was supposed to go, then we will have Balor announced the Demon and Edge announced the Brood Edge, and that’s, you know, that’s where we’re going.

Edge vs Finn Balor could tear the house down at WrestleMania 39. It appears that this is a match that WWE had in mind, and they didn’t want anyone else to take the Hell in a Cell gimmick match in the meantime either.

WWE turned Finn Balor and Edge’s first encounter into a Mountain Dew Pitch Black match that saw Bray Wyatt take on LA Knight. Edge and Finn Balor’s match had to wait, but it appears that they are right on track to put together the match they had in mind.

What’s your take on this situation with WrestleMania booking? Are you okay with nixing the yearly Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, so they can use the gimmick match elsewhere? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
