WrestleMania 39 is shaping up to be one of the best WrestleManias in recent history. There have been plenty of exciting matches announced for the show. The most exciting match of the night will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. However, there is one other match that fans can’t wait to see.
Gunther is set to defend his Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39. However, his opponent is yet to be determined. But that will change next week when Sheamus and Drew McIntyre face each other in a number one contender’s match for the Intercontinental Championship.
Following the announcement of the match, Sheamus took to Twitter to declare that the winner would receive an ‘‘IC Title Match Main Event at Wrestlemania 39 Day One’.
“St. Patrick’s Day 2023. Kansas City. Drew McIntyre V Sheamus. Winner: IC Title Match Main Event at Wrestlemania 39 Day One.. Next Friday “Remember Murrayfield” #SCOvIRE #luckoftheirish“
While it is highly unlikely that the Intercontinental Championship match will be the main even of WrestleMania 39 night one, this does confirm that the match itself will take place on night one.
Whether Sheamus or Drew McIntyre become the number one contender, fans can surely expect a banger of a match at WrestleMania. Until then, stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
