Mick Foley Turned Down WrestleMania Match With Controversial Superstar

Mick Foley racked up a ton of amazing moments throughout his pro wrestling career. The Hardcore legend had multiple faces in WWE, but none of them wanted to tangle with Marc Mero, even if it meant turning down a WrestleMania moment.

There was resentment for Marc Mero within the WWE locker room. He entered the company with a guaranteed contract, something that was unheard of back then. That didn’t change Mick Foley’s mind when it came to facing him.

Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy recently spoke about that rejected Marc Mero match during an episode of Foley is Pod. He said that when Jim Cornette approached him about having that match, he turned it down, because it would rather have no match at all.

“I do know that we talked about the fact that Corny said, ‘I know, Cactus [Cactus Jack, Foley’s alter-ego], it’s not great. We just wanna get you a spot at WrestleMania.’ I said, ‘Hey, if it’s between getting a spot and having a spot that’s not good, I’d rather not be on the show,’ and that’s still the way I felt. I still feel like you get to create your own WrestleMania moments.”

Mick Foley would get more WrestleMania moments after that, but none of them included Marc Mero. He has since apologized for seeing Marc Mero as a bad guy, but things were certainly not cool between the two of them for a while.
