Tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown featured a fatal five-way match between Xavier Woods, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Karrion Kross, and LA Knight to determine the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

Xavier Woods replaced Kofi Kingston in the match after the former WWE Champion suffered an ankle injury days before the show. Kingston is expected to remain out of action for about five weeks.

The closing moments of the match saw Sheamus hit Xavier Woods hit with a brogue kick. Drew McIntyre took out LA Knight with a claymore. Both Sheamus and McIntyre then pinned their respective victims for the win.

Chants of “triple threat” erupted inside the arena after Sheamus and McIntyre got the pinfall. Kayla Braxton noted backstage that WWE official Adam Pearce will have to do a lot of work to determine a decisive winner.
