Bianca Belair has been a dominant champion for almost a year now. She has defeated everyone put in front of her and has made it look effortless. Now, she is faced with her toughest opponent yet, Asuka. However, this wasn’t always the direction WWE had planned for her.

Fightful Select is now reporting that Bianca Belair was originally supposed to face Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39. This would’ve been set up after Charlotte returned to the RAW brand instead of going to SmackDown and winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

While there have been rumors suggesting that Rhea Ripley would face Bianca Belair at WrestleMania, this was never the plan. That being said, Ronda Rousey’s situation did cause a change in things.

“Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair, WrestleMania: Ronda Rousey’s creative adjustments also caused some adjustments to this match. As of November, Charlotte was actually slated to return to the WWE Raw brand, before Rousey took January off, and she picked up the title. While many speculated Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair as a WrestleMania match, we haven’t seen any plans that indicate that was suggested,”

Plans can always change in WWE, and that’s what happened this time. We now have Bianca Belair vs. Asuka and Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. Nevertheless, fans won’t complain about these plans given the caliber of athletes involved.

On the other hand, we will likely see Ronda Rousey team up with Shayna Baszler to take on whoever is WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time. That is apparently the match that Rousey wanted.

The idea to have Rhea Ripley face Charlotte at WrestleMania 39 makes for a compelling story considering what happened three years ago between these two women. Now, we will have to wait and see if they will be able to put on a good match as well. Stay tuned to Ringside News for all news regarding WrestleMania.
