IMPACT Wrestling has an awesome women’s tag team division featuring a myriad of extremely-talented performers. Scott D’Amore and his team are pretty flexible when it comes to the contracts of the overall IMPACT roster as well, booking some of the performers that are not exclusive to the company to main event status.

It appears that a popular tag team in IMPACT Wrestling isn’t currently signed to the promotion. Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that Allysin Kay and Marti Belle, aka The Hex, are working in Impact as free agents. The duo is already a major act in Billy Corgan’s NWA.

IMPACT Wrestling added a couple of names integral to their women’s tag team past to the roster in January, but their future there isn’t clear.

In January, Allysin Kay (formerly Sienna in TNA/IMPACT/GFW) and Marti Belle both returned to IMPACT Wrestling after years away from the company. The duo, collectively known as The Hex, came to IMPACT after establishing themselves as a tag team in the National Wrestling Alliance, among other places.

Many have inquired about the contract status of The Hex, considering they’re booked in a Tag Title match, but are still actively working for NWA. Fightful Select has confirmed that Belle and Kay are both technically still free agents and are not signed to exclusive deals. IMPACT has not been shy about booking non-contracted talent to win titles, as we’ve seen with Deonna Purrazzo years ago, and Mickie James currently.

IMPACT has been very open to utilizing talent who aren’t under full-time contracts, or contracts of any kind. Technically, both Taya Valkyrie and Mickie James are free agents as well

Allysin Kay confirmed The Hex’s free agency during a recent interview with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone, noting she never left the indie scene in the first place. Here’s an excerpt from the interview.

“Marti and I are free agents, so we are free to go wherever we want and pretty much do whatever we want. That’s kind of what we’ve been doing almost our entire career. I feel like I’ve been an indie wrestler my entire career, even including my first time at IMPACT, because I was allowed to still do the indies, so I never left. I never left the indies. I’ve always had to balance all the promotions at once and my own schedule and be my own assistant, my own agent. So, at this point, it’s really muscle memory. It’s not anything that I have to — it’s not difficult to balance because we’re free agents is really the long story short.”

Allysin Kay and Marti Belle are set to challenge The Death Dollz for the Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship IMPACT No Surrender on Friday, February 24th. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we will have full coverage of the pay-per-view event.
