Melina was one of the most athletically gifted and versatile WWE superstars back in the post-Ruthless Aggression era. The former WWE Women’s champion made a remarkable impact on the women’s division back in the heyday and remains a notable name in WWE. Speaking of her days on the active roster, there were some rumors regarding Melina, about which she has come clean recently.

Melina started working for the Stamford-based business in 2004. She started off as a valet for the team of Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, collectively known as MNM with the group being highly successful during their run.

Melina was a WWE combatant for almost seven years, winning the Women’s Championship three times and the Divas Title twice. Then in August 2011, the company decided to release her.

There have been some rumors and allegations about Melina having backstage heat with some of her coworkers over the past few years. Moreover, her attitude was also alleged by a few former WWE stars.

After years of remaining silent, Melina has finally addressed these rumors. She addressed the same in recent interview with The Artist Version One as they rose to be among the most well-known in the wrestling industry.

“This is the way it is for a lot of backstage rumors in wrestling where everybody says like hey I was difficult, and I had an attitude and everything. If you know my personality, I don’t have an attitude. I always do what I’m told. I do everything to the best of my ability. I don’t talk back, like, especially back then. Now, different [laughs]. But back then, I always played it safe, and I always did what everybody told me to do. I listened. Never talked. I just loved what I did, and I knew it was a blessing. I was very grateful every day I was there.”

The former women’s champion further mentioned that the person she refused to date could have been the origin of these rumors.

“So, the backstage rumors thing, that’s what people say when, you know, who knows where it originated from, who the source is. And then you have to consider the source and what their position was compared to mine or if they were jealous, if they were female or if they’re male and I turned down. What is it? When people kind of like try to flirt with you or whatever and then you kind of have to turn them down because you’re taken. You never know their reaction. They hate me because I rejected them. And it’s not a rejection, it’s like I’m taken. So, you never know where the source came from.”

Melina came back to WWE for one night as a part of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, entering the bout at #2. Furthermore, we will have to wait and see if she would be interested to return to one more singles match against some of the top stars of the current roster.

We’ll have to see if Melina ever makes her way back to WWE, because she seems available for whatever the company might have for her. In the meantime, keep checking back with Ringside News for more.
