Kenny Omega had a choice to make between WWE and an upstart company called AEW, but he picked Tony Khan’s company several years ago. AEW made Omega an Executive Vice President, but that time with AEW might be running out for The Cleaner.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that there is a belief within WWE that they have the ability to snag Kenny Omega from AEW. There is a rivalry between the companies, but all those contract tampering accusations apparently includes Kenny Omega.

There is chatter emanating from WWE of late, with several in the company believing they have a chance to land Kenny Omega.” Despite the AEW/WWE rivalry, we’re told that Omega had a positive relationship with WWE, and especially Triple H when discussing the potential of heading to the company in late 2018. Ultimately Kenny chose to go to WWE. Though there have been heavy AEW accusations regarding contract tampering, WWE sources told Fightful they don’t believe that was the case with Omega specifically.

It was also reported that a source reiterated that, “Omega has it written in his AEW contract that he has the freedom to appear in NJPW as long as it doesn’t conflict with AEW duties, or an agreement is made.”

We also reported that AEW could add substantial time to Kenny Omega’s contract. Only time will tell if this effort pays off to keep Kenny Omega in AEW for the long-haul, but WWE seems to think snagging The Cleaner is a big possibility.
