Buddy Matthews used to work in WWE under the ring name Buddy Murphy. The Australian had a solid run that saw him win titles in NXT and on the main roster. Despite the success, Matthews was released from his contract on June 2, 2021.

Buddy Matthews made his AEW debut in shocking fashion on the February 23, 2022, edition of Wednesday Night Dynamite. The former Buddy Murphy revealed himself as the newest member of The House of Black that night.

Buddy Matthews recently won a championship in an independent wrestling promotion. The House of Black member defeated Mitch Waterman for the MCW World Heavyweight Championship at MCW The House Always Wins event this past weekend.

A photo of Matthews holding the newly-won MCW title went viral on social media following his win over Waterman. Fans noticed that Matthews looked considerably bigger, with many debating whether or not the recent bulk-up was natural.
