Eddie Guerrero passed away on November 13th, 2005, at the age of 38, from acute heart failure that stemmed from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Despite his untimely death, Eddie Guerrero remains one of the most beloved and respected professional wrestlers of all time. His legacy continues to inspire new generations of fans and performers. That being said, Konnan was not happy about a recent tribute for Latino Heat.

Konosuke Takeshita went 1-on-1 with MJF on AEW Dynamite last week. Much to the delight of fans, Takeshita performed an iconic Eddie Guerrero taunt before executing the wrestler’s legendary Frog Splash finisher on the AEW World Champion for a two-count.

Konnan has now expressed his displeasure with AEW star Konosuke Takeshita for paying tribute to WWE legend Eddie Guerrero on Dynamite last week. It appears that Konnan isn’t impressed with Takeshita’s maneuver.

While speaking on the latest Keepin’ it 100 episode, Konnan noted that Konosuke Takeshita should “stick to his nationality” and not imitate Guerrero, who was Mexican-American. The veteran wrestling icon also expressed his heat with the Japanese star and said he was lucky he wasn’t in El Paso at the time.

“Well Takeshita… he’s got heat with me, and he’s lucky I wasn’t in El Paso. Because when he went up, and he did the f*cking Eddie Guerrero thing for the frog splash, you’re not Mexican dude, I don’t care… Stick to your nationality.”

In November 2022, AEW made it official by announcing that Konosuke Takeshita was “All Elite” after having several impressive matches prior to that. Since then, Takeshita has faced some of the biggest names in AEW such as Jon Moxley, “Hangman” Adam Page, and Eddie Kingston

Despite Konnan’s disapproval, Tony Khan is reportedly planning a big push for Konosuke Takeshita. It remains to be seen what is next for Takeshita in AEW.
