The 2023 Royal Rumble is the upcoming 36th annual pay-per-view event produced by WWE. The gala event will be held for wrestlers from WWE RAW and SmackDown brand divisions. The show takes place on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas as part of the Alamodome’s 30th-anniversary celebration. It will be the fourth Royal Rumble event to be held in San Antonio after the 1997, 2007, and 2017 events. The January 28th pay-per-view will be the third Rumble event to take place at the Alamodome, following 1997 and 2017. Naturally, as the start of the road to WrestleMania, Superstars need a Mania sign to point to when they win the big matches.
The last-minute preparations for the Royal Rumble are in full swing. In fact, it appears that one of the final pieces to the mega-production set has just been installed.
Ahead of this week’s episode of SmackDown, WWE took to Twitter to share a video clip featuring the raising of the WrestleMania 39 logo in the Alamodome.
“BREAKING NEWS: The #WrestleMania 39 sign has been raised inside the Alamodome!”
Now that the WrestleMania 39 sign has been hung from the rafters at the Alamodome, it only makes sense to run through the potential favorites for this year’s Royal Rumble. According to betting odds, Cody Rhodes is the favorite to win the Men’s Royal Rumble, while Rhea Ripley is predicted to be the last woman standing in the Women’s Rumble match.
WrestleMania “Goes Hollywood” this year, and fans can bet a few Superstars will be looking and pointing toward that gargantuan sign this weekend. Of course, this event was supposed to go down in SoFi Stadium last year, but the pandemic had other plans as Tampa got the event that they lost thanks to COVID-19.
