WWE has gone through a ton of changes ever since Triple H took over as head of Creative following Vince McMahon’s temporary retirement. That being said, one of the remnants of McMahon’s era of booking was WWE’s emphasis on unifying both the main event level as well as tag team titles. Now it seems WWE plans on splitting up the tag team titles soon.

Earlier this week on Monday Night RAW, Adam Pearce announced a tag team turmoil match that, where the winners would get a shot at the RAW Tag Team Championship. He said RAW specifically and not the Undisputed Tag Team Championship.

Kevin Patrick made sure to repeat this point when The Judgment Day won a shot at the titles. In fact, The Usos lifted the RAW Tag Team Championships only during their confrontation with The Judgment Day.

As seen on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre made it clear they want a piece of The Viking Raiders. Pearce then granted their wish, announcing that The Banger Bros will face The Viking Raiders in the first round of a tournament to determine the #1 contenders for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

Once again, it was made evident that the company plans on splitting up the tag team titles. However, the same cannot be said for Roman Reigns as he is still regarded as the Undisputed Universal Champion. That being said, it is likely he will end up dropping the titles come WrestleMania 39. We’ll have to see how WWE plans on splitting up the aforementioned titles.
