MJF is enjoying the best run of his wrestling career, being on the top of the AEW mountain. The Salt of the Earth is currently one of the top attractions of the upstart promotion. He was recently addressed by a new nickname, which received an endorsement from his current rival, Ricky Starks, that didn’t really sit well with the AEW World Champion.

Ricky Starks started his career in 2012, working majorly as an enhancement talent in WWE. Starks would make numerous appearances for the company before signing with its rival competition, AEW, in 2020. He became a mainstay for the company, being involved in several high profile feuds for the next two years.

Ricky Starks defeated Ethan Page in the finals of AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament in November 2022 to earn title shot against MJF at Winter is Coming. Starks and MJF have been going back and forth during the build-up to their title match. MJF were addressed with a new nickname, ‘Maxi Pad’ during last night’s edition of AEW Dynamite. The Devil reacted on Twitter, seemingly being annoyed by the name and stating that it won’t last long.

“This maxi pad thing isn’t gonna stick. Lame.”

Ricky Starks took notice of MJF’s frustrations and added fuel to the fire on Twitter by claiming that the name had a nice ring to it.

“I think it has wings to it.”

MJF become the new AEW World champion, defeating Jon Moxley at AEW’s last pay-per-view, Full Gear. His match with Ricky Starks will mark his first title defense, with the match looking to be a blockbuster between two of the brightest AEW talents in the history of the company.
