Roman Reigns has arguably become the biggest WWE star of the modern era. Ever since he turned heel in 2020, Reigns has been unstoppable and a force to be reckoned with. However, his most notable rival has been the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. Most recently, Roman Reigns revealed why Lesnar’s new gimmick ‘Cowboy Brock’ was crucial in their last feud.

Roman Reigns has been on a monster run ever since he debuted The Tribal Chief gimmick at the end of WWE SummerSlam 2020. The Head of the Table has decimated legends and top superstars en-route of becoming the longest reigning World Champion of the modern era. Brock Lesnar also fell victim to Roman’s warpath on three different occasions thanks to The Bloodline.

Brock Lesnar feuded with Roman Reigns in 2015 and 2018 culminating both times into a WrestleMania main event. However, when Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2021, he debuted his new ‘Cowboy Brock’ gimmick that was widely appreciated by the WWE Universe, who saw a new side of the Beast Incarnate.

Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns feuded for an entire year with Lesnar losing to the Tribal Chief at WWE Crown Jewel, WrestleMania 38 and lastly at WWE SummerSlam 2022 in a last man standing match. Roman Reigns went on to outline the importance of the Beast’s new gimmick during their last two matches on The Ringer.

“To me, if he doesn’t level up and showcase the Cowboy Brock character, then don’t nobody give a shit about Brock next to the Tribal Chief. I was able to push my level up, which he knew, OK, ‘this guy’s creating different levels and layers to this, let me step my game up.’ And he did that. That was just a perfect recipe of two performers who want to be the best, and both have pretty legitimate claims to that territory. And when you get two guys who compete, it’s not backstabbing.

We’re looking each other in the eyes and we’re telling each other, ‘I’m better than you and if you don’t show me, then this is the end of the road for you.’ People probably said, ‘Oh God, not Brock-Roman again.’ And then we go out there and deliver a classic. Got better on that last one. And I think that’s the key to the kingdom. How do we continually get better? How do we upgrade? How do we push ourselves to the next level? How do we continue to move these goal posts?”

Brock Lesner’s last appearance came at WWE Crown Jewel 2022 where he picked up a huge win over Bobby Lashley, only to be decimated by The Almighty after the match. Cowboy Brock’ s next appearance is rumored to take place sometime around the Royal Rumble pay-per-view next year. Only time will tell how that goes down, and what’s next for his feud with The Almighty.
