Rey Mysterio was moved over to SmackDown, so he could avoid squaring off against his son, Dominik Mysterio. Then Mr. 6-1-9 wasn’t on the show this week. There is a really good reason for that.

Ringside News asked around about Mysterio’s status. We were told that he was backstage at SmackDown this week, but he was not used.

A tenured member of the backstage team on the blue brand told us that Rey Mysterio was backstage, but he was in a walking boot. It was noted that this is a short-term injury.

Rey Mysterio was backstage in a walking boot. So he has a short term injury.

It was not confirmed exactly what type of injury Rey Mysterio is suffering from. It obviously isn’t a tremendously terrible situation, because he was able to make it to SmackDown this week. He just wasn’t used on the show.

We will continue monitoring this situation right here at Ringside News, and will update you as soon as more information is made known.
