Erick Redbeard, the former Erick Rowan, was let go by WWE back in 2020 as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts. He went back to the indies afterwards and has appeared in various promotions including AEW since then. Vince McMahon also wanted Redbeard to look like Bryan Danielson.

Eric Redbeard was Bryan Daneislon’s follower on WWE television during Danielson’s run as a heel on SmackDown from 2018 to 2019. It proved to be a beneficial partnership for everyone involved, and fans got to see a new side of Rowan in the process.

While speaking on Rewind Recap Relive, Erick Redbeard talked about his time in WWE. Redbeard revealed that Vince McMahon wanted him to look like Bryan Danielson during their partnership.

“I remember the first day, they’re like, ‘We want you to dress like Daniel Bryan. We’re going to cut your beard, even.’ Like, they wanted to cut this nice and short, like, they wanted me to look like him. Like, ‘Can we do a little makeup, and make his ears.’ True Story. We’re at TV, they’ve already given me a couple plaid shirts to look like him.

I think, Dean Malenko came to me and said, ‘We gotta get you to makeup and cut your beard.’ I said, ‘No, we’re gonna talk to Vince.’ So going to Vince’s office, I basically said, ‘Before I start cutting my beard off and making permanent changes to the way I look, can we discuss what exactly do you want out of this?'”

Erick Redbeard also hinted at returning to WWE. With Triple H hiring previously-released WWE Superstars as of late, it would not be far-fetched to believe Erick Redbeard could be returning as well.
