AEW and Warner Bros Discovery have demonstrated lot of synergy, with several AEW events sporting WBD show branding. WBD frequently mentions AEW ratings in press releases as well. AEW has additional content plans in the works, which is good for the future of the company and Warner Bros. Discovery.
According to Fightful Select, the new AEW docuseries that is presently filming has sparked interest at Warner Bros. Discovery. After the recent merger, there was some doubt regarding AEW’s future with WBD. However, things now appear more promising as a WBD insider has revealed that AEW will likely be offered a renewal with a sizable raise on their rights fee negotiations when the time comes.
AEW and Warner Bros Discovery have worked together and been receptive to one another’s ideas. The WBD source said that pro wrestling popularity has seen a significant uptick this year across the board, and both AEW and WWE benefited greatly from this.
The docuseries will focus on the behind-the-scenes side of the promotion and the stories of numerous wrestlers. It was first revealed when AEW started filming their new docuseries at the last Dynamite event in Baltimore.
The project is anticipated to premiere on TBS in the first half of 2023, though this has not yet been confirmed. Wrestlers were given the option to drop out of the project by All Elite Wrestling, although it is still unknown which wrestlers will be highlighted in the series.
The Dynamite event at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, on December 14 will be the last day of six weeks of filming. Executive Producer for the new series will be AEW President Tony Khan, with help from Sam Berns of Shed Media. WBD and Shed Media collaborated on the production.
