AEW has a knack of signing hot talent that they want from all around the pro wrestling world. With so many contracts ending at once, that provided Tony Khan with a perfect opportunity that he took advantage of.

According to Sean Sapp behind Fightfuls’ paywall, AEW inked deals with the entire Kingdom Trio of Maria Kanelis, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven. They just recently finished up their time at Impact Wrestling with the Bound For Glory event.

The trio of Maria Kanellis, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven finished up with IMPACT Wrestling at the Bound For Glory tapings and dropped the IMPACT Tag Team Championships, but it hadn’t aired yet. As a result, they appeared on AEW television while in canon being IMPACT champions.

It was reported that “FTR had also pushed to get them involved, though we’re not sure in what context.” The Kingdom did not have deals signed at the time, but it is reported that all three have inked deals now.

We’ll have to see what’s next for AEW as they continue through 2022. Only time will tell what 2023 has in store.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
