Many fans remember Jerry Lawler as the funny commentator he is today. Even his heelish remarks in the 2000s had a bit of humor in them. However, very few people remember the Jerry Lawler from back in the day. In the ’90s, Jerry Lawler played the role of a serious bad guy.

Although, he never won multiple World Titles like The Rock or Triple H, he played his part well. His infamous rivalry with Bret Hart that resulted in a Kiss My Foot Match at King of the Ring 1995 was well received by the fans. In fact, in a recent episode of WWE Network’s Table for 3, praised Jerry Lawler’s work as a heel even saying that there wasn’t a better villain than him.

“It was red hot as soon as we went out there. So easy, it was like kindlewood. I never saw anyone, I’ll say this, and I’ve said it before, that was as good a villain as you. You were a master,” said Hart.

The storyline between Jerry Lawler and Bret Hart also Isaac Yankem, who would go on to become Kane. Jerry Lawler considers this rivalry with Bret Hart as the greatest of his career.
