WWE SmackDown included one spot this week that didn’t come off as well on television as they initially planned. Fireballs are problematic in pro wrestling, but they keep popping up. This week was no exception.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that the fireball spot was botched this week. The flash paper wasn’t ready for television, and it just didn’t work in the moment. So, they had to improvise.

We’re told that very clearly, the flash paper was not ready for live TV and didn’t work in a moment where it needed to catch enough of someone’s face to sell. Word got delivered to Karrion Kross to keep going. He and Drew McIntyre improvised the rest of what happened.

It was also reported that, “the flash paper was actually brought with the team that took the company jet to Smackdown, and wasn’t picked up locally or brought with the prop team.”

We’ll have to see how things carry on with Karrion Kross and Drew McIntyre. This week’s spot didn’t go off as planned, but it still resulted in a brutal angle that nobody saw coming.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
