WWE announced today that SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee signed a contract extension with the company. With the announcement, the company touted the commentator’s achievements and teased that the WWE Universe will see McAfee as part of the WWE for years to come. New information has shed light on when McAfee may have signed his contract.

A source has told Wrestle Votes that McAfee signed McAfee’s contract extension was inked a few weeks back. The report also noted that the company knows what they have in McAfee and that everyone backstage is “thrilled” with the news.

I’m told the Pat McAfee extension was signed a few weeks back, to the thrill of everyone involved. WWE knows exactly what they have in McAfee and were steadfast on making sure they kept him around. Good job on them.

McAfee began appearing on WWE programming as a pre-show analyst for NXT TakeOver events. He was loudly praised for his feud against now AEW star Adam Cole and moved over to the main roster. He’s currently scheduled to face Happy Corbin in a match at SummerSlam. We’ll have to see what’s next, but he’ll be around for years.
