This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was packed to the brim with action. This included Wardlow winning the TNT Championship and a scathing promo by Christian Cage. AEW also nixed a match for the second week in a row.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, fans were supposed to see another match on the card, which was initially supposed to happen last week on Blood & Guts.
Fans saw Rush vs. Penta Oscuro, where Rush won the match. However, it was initially supposed to be a tag team match. It didn’t happen due to unavailable talent.
“For the second week in a row, because they wanted to do this in Detroit (at Blood & Guts), they wanted to do the tag match. And then this week they wanted to do the tag match, but either Fenix or Andrade was not ready. I don’t know which one, but it was one of the two.”
It was not mentioned why either Andrade or Fenix was unavailable. However, as a couple wrestlers missed Blood & Guts due to COVID-19, perhaps either of them contracted the virus. We’re hoping for the best, because COVID is sometimes something that companies keep away from the public.
