WWE announced internally that the company’s Board of Directors would be initiating an investigation into allegations that Vince McMahon paid hush money to an employee after the two had an affair. That creates very interesting dynamic, as the board includes Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. There is a widespread belief that somebody on the board leaked news of the scandal to The Wall Street Journal.

It is not known which member leaked the story. There are twelve people on the board. One of them is Vince McMahon, who is very unlikely to have ratted himself out.

Dave Meltzer discussed the source of the leak on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave was unsure who may have released the information, but seems certain that it was a board member. Who that is is anybody’s guess.

“Obviously, there’s the big question of, ‘Who on the board of directors leaked it?’ You know, whatever. I mean, it’s a question, but I think it was probably somebody on the board. It may have been, the person who leaked it to the board and then leaking it and The Wall Street Journal finding out the dates and everything and then being told that from the outside.

The fact of the investigation and everything seems to indicate that somebody on the board did [leak the news]. And, so, you’ve got twelve people there. Obviously, Vince didn’t, so you’ve got eleven people there that you can look at and, whatever, it could be one of those but we don’t have that answer, obviously.”

All the signs point to the leak originating from a member of the WWE Board of Directors. While that has not been confirmed, it makes sense when you connect the dots. This adds another layer of intrigue to an already wild situation.
