SmackDown tonight will see Intercontinental Champion Ricochet defend his title against Gunther where The Ring General will try to capture his first main roster championship.

Also scheduled for tonight is a pair of Money in the Bank qualifying matches as Drew McIntyre takes on Sheamus and Xia Li takes on a returning Lacey Evans for a spot in the men’s and women’s respective ladder matches.


It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.


Drew McIntyre vs Sheamus

SmackDown kicks off with our first Money in the Bank qualifying match. The two start off with a lock up and Sheamus backs McIntyre to the corner and connects with a strong right hand. McIntyre springs out of the corner to hit a lariat to Sheamus. McIntyre hits with a Michinoku driver and covers for a two count. Sheamus throws McIntyre over the top rope and hits the white noise on the apron.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with Sheamus hitting an Alabama slam and covering for two. McIntyre hits a belly to belly throw and follows with a neck breaker and then McIntyre kips up. Sheamus hits the Future Shock DDT and covers for a two count. McIntye hits the White noise to Sheamus from off the middle rope and gets a two count from the cover. McIntyre counts down and goes for the Claymore but Sheamus counters with a running knee. Butch runs into the ring and McIntyre hits with a Claymore, off the distraction Sheamus throws McIntyre outside the ring and Sheamus hits a flying forearm from off the top rope to the outside. McIntyre hits a belly to belly throw outside the ring and over the barricade. Sheamus and McIntyre both grab a chair and hit each other and the ref calls for the bell as we cut to commercial without an official match result.

SmackDown returns with Sheamus and McIntyre continue to fight outside the ring as WWE officials try to separate them. McIntyre and Sheamus brawl in the crowd before the officials, including Hurricane Helms and Curtis Axel, are able to seperate them completely.

Lacey Evans vs Xia Li

Our second Money in the Bank qualifying match begins with Li locking in a waist lock. Evans powers out and hits a shoulder tackle. Evans hits a running European uppercut in the corner and covers for a two count. Li runs off the ropes but Evans hits with the Woman’s Right and covers for the three count.

Winner: Lacey Evans

SmackDown returns with SmackDown Women’s champion Ronda Rousey in the ring. Rousey talks about her upcoming match with Natalya before she is interrupted by Shotzi coming out to the ring. Shotzi challenges Rousey to a match right now. Rousey accepts Shotzi’s challenge as we cut to commercial.

Ronda Rousey vs Shotzi

The match begins with a waist lock from Shotzi. Rousey reverses and goes for the armbar but Shotzi makes it to the ropes before the hold can be locked in. Rousey hits a power slam and goes for the cover for a two count. Shotzi hits a tornado DDT from off the ring apron onto the outside floor. Shotzi throws Rousey back in the ring and covers for two. Shotzi locks in a chicken wing submission but Rousey rolls through to break the hold. Rousey hits with the Piper’s Pit and locks in the armbar and Shotzi taps out.

Winner: Ronda Rousey

After the match, Natalya runs in the ring to attack Rousey and lock her in the sharpshooter.

Intercontinental Championship

Ricochet vs Gunther

Our championship match begins with a lock up and Gunther throwing Ricochet across the ring. Ricochet hits a series of kicks but is knocked to the mat with a strong chop from Gunther. Gunther puts Ricochet on the top rope and hits another chop and stomps Ricochet down to the ring apron.

The match continues live with Gunther hitting a big boot. Gunther foes for the powerbomb but Ricochet rolls through for a roll up for a two count. ricochet hits kicks to bring Gunther to his knees. Ricochet hits a spear in the corner and goes for a dive but Gunther catches and locks Ricochet in a sleeper hold. Ricochet rolls through but is hit with a huge lariat and Gunther covers for two. Gunther locks in the sleeper hold again but Ricochet makes it to the ropes. Ricochet hits a springboard moonsault and a standing shooting star press and covers for two. Ricochet goes to the top rope but Gunther avoids the splash and Gunther hits a drop kick and follows with a powerbomb and Gunther covers for three to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Winner: Gunther

Sami Zayn vs Riddle

Our main event begins with a lock up. Zayn rolls outside and Riddle follows and slams Zayn to the ring apron. Riddle hits a powerbomb and covers for a two count. Zayn again rolls outside the ring and when Riddle follows, Zayn hits a lariat. Zayn slams Riddle off the announce table and back into the ring where he covers for a two count. Riddle hits a suplex and follows with a running knee. Riddle goes to the top rope but Zayn shoves him causing him to crash to the barricade outside.

Our main event continues live with Zayn hitting a brain buster and Zayn goes for a cover for two. Zayn hits a series of right hands to Riddle on the mat and Zayn goes up top but Riddle runs up and tries for an RKO but Zayn knocks Ruddle down with a headbutt. Zayn dives but Riddle hits a knee strike to Zay’s head and Riddle covers for a very close two count. Zayn hits the Orton-style draping DDT on Riddle and Zayn goes to the mat to signal for the RKO like Orton would but Riddle counters the attempt with a knee. Zayn rolls outside and Riddle hits a corkscrew splash to Zayn outside. Riddle hits the power slam and hits the draping DDT and Riddle goes for the RKO but Zayn counters with the blue thunder bomb. Zayn hits the exploder suplex in the corner and Zayn goes for the Helluva kick but Riddle counters by hitting the RKO and Riddle covers for three.

Winner: Riddle

After the match The Usos run in to attack Riddle and The Usos stand tall in the ring but Riddle runs back in the ring to take out both Usos with a Kendo stick. Riddle stands tall in the ring stealing The Bloodline’s signature taunt as SmackDown goes off the air.
