Tommaso Ciampa was one of the highlights of NXT throughout his run in the developmental brand. He was part of solid feuds, especially with the likes of Johnny Gargano. Ciampa also believes the original version of NXT had an ECW feel.

He won the NXT Championship and was viewed as one of the true veterans of the brand. He also competed for a long time on NXT 2.0 but was eventually called up to the main roster last month.

While speaking on “El Brunch de WWE“, Tommaso Ciampa talked about his time in the original version of NXT. Ciampa stated that he believes the original version had an ECW feel.

“I think without being an ECW, I think it had a very ECW-feel … When I got there, we had just starting to do a couple of Takeovers. We weren’t really doing live events on the road much and by the time we got to the pandemic, we were on the road twice a month for four days every month, and we were doing Takeovers every couple of months. We were like a legit third brand.”

Ciampa is currently feuding with Mustafa Ali on the red brand and lost via disqualification after Austin Theory attacked Ali. We’ll have to see what’s next in store for him.
