John Morrison was one of the main draws of WWE television after he returned to the company in 2019. In the past, Morrison admitted that his WWE return didn’t quite go as expected. He recently made his way to AEW and for many fans, had a tremendous debut. Even Tony Khan commented on his debut.

Morrison went through several name changes throughout his pro wrestling career. He made his debut in AEW as Johnny Elite on last week’s episode of Dynamite. He had a solid match against Samoa Joe, where he was unable to win the match.

While speaking on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan talked bout Johnny Elite’s debut AEW. Khan showered praise on Johnny Elite for his debut, which was expected.

“Oh man, it was great to have Johnny Elite here. What a great match-up he had with Samoa Joe. It was a great way to make his debut in the Owen [Hart Foundation Tournament]. That was tremendous, and really, I am very glad he was here. He’s a great mentor to some of the young wrestlers in the locker room, and somebody I think fans have looked up to for a long time, and he went toe-to-toe with one of the toughest wrestlers in AEW. One of our great stars, and one of the greatest stars in the history of Ring of Honor – Samoa Joe.”

Johnny Elite is not officially part of the AEW roster as of yet. However, the two parties could certainly come to an agreement, if needed. We’ll have to see whether Johnny Elite will return to AEW eventually or not.
