Chris Jericho is certainly an established veteran in the world of professional wrestling. Having worked in the industry well over three decades now, Jericho is more than aware of his own worth. Jericho has also been given huge props for rejecting an offer to be one of the EVPs for AEW.
Le Champion was one of the first people to sign with AEW back in 2019 and was the biggest name for a long time in the company. He was the first AEW World Champion and helped carry the company during its initial stages.
Jericho previously revealed that he had rejected an offer to be an EVP in AEW and opted for more money instead. While speaking on his Drive Thru, Jim Cornette talked about Chris Jericho rejecting AEW’s EVP offer. Cornette gave huge props to Jericho for making that decision.
“That really is a very level-headed response because all the EVPs ended up doing more s**t, right? In Jericho’s case, he got more money and only has to wrestle and kibitz where he feels like it. For less work and more money? He did not care at all about being EVP because he didn’t want to build all the company, he just wanted to build his part in it.
I can’t disagree with that statement, that’s just – that’s actually being honest for Jericho for once. He didn’t want the graba** egotistical whatever, he just wants to be able to put all the attention on himself without having to take the heat for an EVP putting all the attention on himself.”
Chris Jericho also recently took credit for high ratings during his segment on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. We’ll have to see how Jericho’s newest faction, the Jericho Appreciation Society, will be booked in the coming weeks.
