Matt Cardona was known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE as he worked hard to establish himself in the company. While he found moderate success in WWE, Cardona was never seen as a top star.

Broski was largely underutilized by the company until his release as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts back in 2020. Cardona made it a mission to reinvent himself following his release and Cardona did just that.

While speaking on the Headlocked Panel at C2E2, Matt Cardona talked about his time in WWE. Cardona admitted that he learned an important lesson too late when it came to pitching ideas in WWE.

I learned, and I learned it a little too late in my career, f*ck these writers. If you want something done, you’ve got to go to Vince. Because a lot of these writers are too afraid to pitch an idea to Vince. So, I would just go and talk to Vince, and if he said no, at least I know the answer is no.”
