We got numerous reports over the weekend about WWE’s original pick for the Royal Rumble winner. We heard Brock Lesnar wanted to long as strong as possible against Roman Reigns. We learnt that Shane McMcahon booked himself to hog the rumble spotlight.

Now, Fightful Select is reporting that several performers expressed frustration over how tag teams were booked for the Men’s Royal Rumble, with many saying that the match served no purpose for teams such as the Street Profits and Mysterios who were used to promote it.

“We heard from several talent that grew increasingly frustrated over the fact that so many on screen pairings, whether they be teams or feuds were paid off. Many pointed to the Mysterios and Street Profits being used to promote the Rumble match, with no furthering or interaction between them.”

There’s no denying that WWE’s tag team division has lost the prestige it so proudly carried once. Even the comedy gold tag team of Randy Orton and Riddle did nothing substantial against eventual winner Brock Lesnar, who absolutely decimated his opponents.
