It certainly seems like WWE is shaking things up, and not a moment too soon. The promotion recently lost out to AEW in key demographic ratings. It only makes sense that they’re planning something interesting.

As per a PW Insider report, an NXT star is backstage for a dark match at tonight’s SmackDown, This star is none other than former NXT North American Champion and Cruiserweight Champion, Roderick Strong.

Notably, Strong is the only wrestler from The Undisputed Era to still be at WWE. It also seems that Strong’s days at NXT 2.0 are numbered, since the brand has been scouting for fresh talent for a while now.

Roddy was last seen losing to WALTER, who then became Gunther, and his status on NXT 2.0 could be up in the air. The Diamond Mine would certainly lose a valuable member if Vince McMahon wants Strong for the main roster. He could always just be around for a dark match, but it’s never a bad thing if WWE wants to take a better look.

Strong’s dark match tonight is likely taking place so management can decide whether to move him to the main roster or not. It would certainly be interesting to watch Strong face off some of the big names at SmackDown.
