NXT 2.0

This week’s NXT opens with Tony D’Angelo coming to the ring. Last week D’Angelo gave Indi Hartwell a dead fish, implying he was about to “whack” her husband, Dexter Lumis. On his way to the ring, Dexter stops by a covered painting and reveals a drawing of Tony sleeping with a fish.

Tony D’Angelo Vs. Dexter Lumis

The match gets underway and D’Angelo bails to the outside but Lumis chases after. Tony tries to sucker Dexter back inside the ring but gets beaten down. Lumis hits a forearm drop and beats Tony into the corner for some uppercuts. Lumis sends Tony to the opposite corner but gets caught with a belly-to-belly suplex and D’Angelo stomps him before grabbing a rear chinlock.

D’Angelo lands a nice body slam and taunts Lumis, but the killer grabs him with The Silence. D’Angelo shrugs him off but Lumis follows-up with a clothesline in the corner and looks for a bulldog but gets shoved off. Tony goes to the apron and Lumis grabs him but he snaps Dexter on the ropes. Tony grabs the easel the painting is on and gets in the ring but the referee takes it from him. When she’s not looking, Tony pokes Lumis in the eye, then hits his neckbreaker finish for the win.

Winner: Tony D’Angelo

After the match D’Angelo leaves the ring and out comes Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. The dup beat Lumis down before getting a steel chair and putting Lumis’s hand inside it, then hitting a stomp from the middle rope! Johnny Gargano and some referees come running out but the damage has been done.

During the break Indi Hartwell came out and helped Lumis to the back. Gargano is still in the ring and he’s pacing angrily. Johnny says originally he wanted to prove that he was better than hayes, but he went and made it personal. Well he screwed with the wrong guy’s son-in-law and now he’s going to kick his teeth down his throat. Gargano calls out Carmelo but instead he gets Pete Dunne.

Dunne tells Gargano he can’t weasel his way into a title match after he pinned Hayes last week. Gargano says he would never have pinned him if it wasn’t for him. Hayes and Trick appear on a platform above the fans and Trick says they’ve found two of Snow White’s dwarves and they make him sick. Dunne asks who Trick is and Gargano says he’s the guy who carries Carmelo’s bags. Hayes says if it wasn’t for him, neither of them would be relevant.

Dunne tells Hayes to shut up, says they’re the same age, and he has ten years more experience and a win over him. Hayes says they can talk their talk but he’d rather run it back, with both of them. And he’s willing to put the title on the line. They can do it next week and Hayes never misses. Gargano says that’s true, most of the time, but he’s been here for five years and when he’s in the ring it’s can’t-miss TV.

Diamond Mine is backstage and Malcolm Bivens says his boys are going to continue to prove tonight why they’re the best thing in NXT. Joe Gacy appears and compliments them but Bivens cuts him off and says if he wants to join Diamond Mine he has to pay a large fee and gives him a card, which Joe takes and smiles.

Diamond Mine Vs. Odyssey Jones & Jacket Time

Roderick starts against Ikemen and he shoves him back before running over to chop Odyssey Jones. As soon as Jones tags in, Strong makes the tag to Julius Creed who jumps on the big man’s back. Jones slings him off and hits a lariat before tagging Kushida for an axe handle. Jones tags back in for a karate chop from the middle rope and he tags Jiro.

Creed hits an overhead throw to Jiro and tags Brutus. Ikemen counters him and lands some punches but Brutus whips him to the corner and hits a gutwrench slam. Strong and Kushida tag in together and Kushida runs over him, then the Creed Brothers rush in and Kushida take them down as well. Strong attacks Kushida from behind to halt his momentum.

*Commercial Break*

Brutus and Julius tag in-and-out and batter Ikemen Jiro with ground-and-pound. Jones and Strong tag in and the big man runs over Strong with shoulders and a flapjack. Jones sends Brutus into Julius and Strong kicks him back before hitting an Angle Slam for a near-fall. Kushida and Jiro dropkick the Creed’s off the apron, then attack Strong, allowing ones to hit a crossbody for the win.

Winners: Jacket Time & Odyssey Jones

Grizzled Young Veterans are backstage with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles. Zack Gibson calls his grandmother and tells her they won the NXT Tag Team belts and she congratulates them. He says to Drake that that should ensure he gets the lionshare of the inheritance, then they move to return the belts before Toxic Attraction realise they’re gone.

*Commercial Break*

We see MSK at the airport going to see their shaman but neither of them want to go through security with their fanny pack full of, presumably, drugs. They make it through unscathed and get on separate planes. They both reach their destination a few minutes apart and head out to search for this mystery man.

Xyon Quinn Vs. Andre Chase

The bell rings and they lock-up with Chase taking the arm and snapping it over his shoulder. Chase takes Quinn down and embarasses him a little. Quinn blocks a kick and hits a reverse atomic drop, then a running body block. Quinn looks for a tackle in the corner but Chase avoids him, then hits a swinging neckbreaker for a one-count. Chase lands some right hands before grabbing a headlock. Quinn fights up and hits a slam, then the jackhammer for the win.

Winner: Xyon Quinn

As soon as the match ends, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza rush into the ring and attack Quinn. The three of them fight out of the ring and Quinn gets the better of them until Santos Escobar attacks him from behind. Legado Del Fantasma beat Quinn down and out comes Elktra Lopez. They hold Quinn so she can tell him that nobody tells her no after he shot her down. Quinn is then slammed down on a steel ramp and Lopez stares at him.

*Commercial Break*

Raqeul Gonzalez is interviewed backstaged and she says she hasn’t slept well since before Halloween Havoc. The title was a part of her but one shovel shot to the back and it was ripped away from her. And she has to watch Mandy walk around with her title. Dakota is jealous of her because she knows she can’t beat her. Well tonight is about revenge. She tells Dakota to bring the shovel because she’s going to bury her with it.

Duke Hudson and Cameron Grimes are in the ring for their poker grand finale. There’s a big poker table between them with a dealer and the rules are read aloud. The announcers wishes them luck and Duke says he doesn’t need luck because it’s for losers like Grimes. He says this is his ring, his table, his game, and tonight he makes Grimes his bitch. Grimes says those are big words but it’s clear he’s nervous. But if he remembers correctly, everyone was chanting that Duke got played.

Hudson tells the dealer to get started and the tournament gets underway. We can see their cards and the commentators whisper their thoughts. Grimes has a King and a 3, meanwhile Duke has a pair of 5’s, but they bet a 1000 each. Duke gets another 5 and ups the ante but Grimes calls to make it a $10,000 pot. The next card out is a Queen and Grimes could be looking at a straight. Grimes raises and Hudson aska for silence but the CWC does the opposite.

Hudson calls to make it an $18,000 pot and the final card out is a 7, meaning Grimes has nothing. He says Duke drops the ball in the big moments but tonight is his moment to prove how big those balls are. Grimes goes all in, even though he can’t win. Duke looks troubled and Grimes asks if his balls are raisins or cantelopes. The fans chant “raisins”. Duke gets up and walks around, angry, saying Grimes smiled the same way when he got a flush a few weeks ago. Grimes says if he believes that he should fold. Duke says he won’t get him again, so he folds.

Hudson wants to see Grimes’s hand and snatches the cards. When he realises he didn’t have anything he’s incredulous and Grimes laughs and gets the fans chanting “you got played”. Hudson attacks Grimes and beats him around the ring, then powerbombs him through the poker table. The fans chant “holy $hit” as Duke leaves the ring, but he stops and pulls out a toolbox and some scissors. Hudson gets back in and cuts Grimes’s beard and hair!

Kyle O’Reilly approaches Von Wagner backstage and says he saw him on SmackDown but he doesn’t care. All he cares about is them handling ther business tonight. Wagner fist bumps him and they walk off.

*Commercial Break*

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner Vs. Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen

O’Reilly starts with Jensen and lands some leg kicks but eats a body slam. Briggs tags in and teams with Jensen to hit a double shoulder tackle. They hang O’Reilly on the middle rope, then both slide under the ropes and connect with uppercuts before fist bumping each other. Wagner tags in and locks-up with Briggs and the two big men struggle for control.

They break apart and shove each other before trading right hands. Wagner connects with a shoulder tackle, then tags O’Reilly and they beat Briggs together in the corner. Jensen tags in and takes the fight to O’Reilly, isolating him in their corner and landing some stiff chops and lariats. Jensen applies a bear hug and tags Briggs so he can take the bear hug. We see Imperium watching the match backstage.

Jensen tags back in and reapplies the hold but O’Reilly breaks free and tags Wagner. Wagner lands a shoulder tackle and some belly-to-belly suplexes to Jensen, then sends Briggs over the ropes so O’Reilly can hit a flying knee off the apron. Wagner hits a spinning, double-arm neckbreaker to Jensen to score the pinfall.

Winners: Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner

Imperium are still watching backstage and they say O’Reilly and Von Wagner are getting better but they’re not on their level. They make fun of the fact that Von Wagner is now a bodyguard on SmackDown.

Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta are outside the trainer’s room backstage and Indi is worried about Dexter Lumis. She says she’s too worried about Lumis to wrestle and Persia tells her to go be there for him.

*Commercial Break*

It’s time for another episode of Lashing Out With Lash Legend. She talks about Kay Lee Ray and how she’s got her eyes on Mandy Rose but she’s outnumbered. Grayson Waller interrupts the show and sits beside Lash. Waller says Knight clais he hasn’t paid his dues but sacrificing so much just seems stupid to him. All he had to do was be on TV, put out a video online, and WWE called him. The days of being a fan, paying your dues, and achieving your boyhood dreams are over. The game has changed and it’s his now.

2-On-1 Handicap Match

Gabby Stevens & Jenna Levy W/Robert Stone Vs. Persia Pirotta

Persia locks-up with Stevens and shoves her down. Levy tags in and attacks Pirotta as she looks at Stone, but she quickly turns it around and hits Jayne with snake eyes. Stevens tags back in and Pirotta sends her to the corner and splashes her. Levy tags in and goes to the top rope but Pirotta punches her, then lifts both her and Stevens onto her shoulders and hits a Samoan drop. Pirotta hits her finish for the win.

Winner: Persia Pirotta

Dakota Kai is interviewed backstage and she starts to talk about her long-running feud with Raquel but Toxic Attraction interrupt her. Mandy says this sage ends tonight and Dakota says she’d like that, but she should be careful what she wishes for and walks off. Grizzled Young Veterans appear with the Women’s Tag belts and sheepishly hand them back.

Tommaso Ciampa is backstage with Goldie and he says he carries the title with integrity, respect and prestige. But this new crop of talent has a serious lack of those intangibles. He wants to address them from the ring, right now!

*Commercial Break*

We see a video of Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter at some recent EDM festival and how it helps them let loose. Seeing so many people come together and have a great time makes them want to do to the same for NXT.

The NXT Champion, Tommaso Ciampa, comes to the ramp and says he needs to vent. He says they have guys like Carmelo Hayes, coming out week-after-week and desperately trying to convince everyone he has the A-title. But let’s be real, Carmelo won’t take a shot at the Champ because he’ll miss. Then there’s a little bitch like Grayson Waller talking about guys like him driving the roads, wrestling for a hot dog, as if he’s above it.

Before he can continue, Ciampa is interrupted by Bron Breakker. He gets in the ring and says Ciampa is calling out guys that are just trying to make a name for themselves. Is Ciampa scared of the new talent coming up? Well that means nothing to him because Ciampa should only be worried about him and he’s coming for that title. Ciampa asks them to pull up the footage of him beating Breakker at Halloween Havoc because clearly he’s forgot.

After the footage, Ciampa says that was clearly a three-count and he’s no math major but Breakker has a 33 and a third percent chance of Bron ever taking the title from him – a shout-out to an old Scott Steiner promo that got a pop from the crowd. Ciampa calls Bron a puppy and he’s still the NXT Champion. Ciampa walks past Breakker and leaves.

Raquel Gonzalez Vs. Dakota Kai

As soon as the match gets going Raquel attacks Kai and beats her into the corner. Raquel whips Dakota hard into the opposite corner and she took an odd bump. Kai goes to the floor and Gonzalez goes after to shove her into the plexi-glass. Back in the ring, Raquel throws Kai up into the air and she rolls out. Raquel goes out and hits another throw into the air, then slams Kai into the apron.

Dakota manages to kick Raquel from the apron and get back in the ring. Raquel hits a back elbow, then chokes Kai in the corner and talks some trash before slamming her head into the buckles. Kai falls to the mat and starts laughing. Kai kicks her a few times but Raquel just slams her again into each corner, then lifts her up for a gory special.

Raquel sets Dakota on the top rope and tells her to look in her eyes, then connects with a European uppercut. Gonzalez looks for a tackle in the corner but she hits the ring post after Kai slips away. Raquel tumbles to the floor and as she slowly gets up, Kai connects with a boot to drop her again. Kai gets Gonzalez back in the ring for a two-count as we head to the break.

*Commercial Break*

Back live and Kai is landing some knees by the ropes. Both women scale either side of the ring post and Dakota is able to slam Raquel’s face into the buckle to knock her off. Kai connects with a boot to the face for a two-count. Raquel grabs Dakota for a double-arm chokebomb. Kai grabs the bottom turnbuckle and Raquel rips her away – Kai removed the pad in the process. Raquel landed the twisting Vader Bomb in the corner for a near-fall.

Gonzalez looks for the one-arm powerbomb but Kai rolls down the back. Kai attempts a roll-up for a near-fall, Raquel grabs Kai and looks for the stretch muffle but then just throws her off. Raquel can’t get Kai up, and Dakota is able to arm wrench her into the exposed turnbuckle. Kai goes out and gets her shovel and brings it inside but Raquel kicks her back and grabs it for herself. Kai backtracks into the corner and and begs for mercy… until Toxic Attraction rush down and attack Raquel!

Winner Via Disqualification: Raquel Gonzalez

Toxic Attraction punch and stomp Raquel. They hold her up and Dakota kicks her in the face. Cora Jade runs down and tries to even the odds with her skateboard but eventually the numbers get the better of her. Zoey Stark comes to the stage but her leg is in a brace and she’s on crutches. Toxic Attraction mock her but then out comes Io Shirai and she takes a crutch to the ring to fight the trio.

Shirai, Cora Jade and Raquel manage to fight Toxic Attraction and Dakota off. Raquel throws Gigi Dolan over the ropes onto Jacy Jayne on the floor. Shirai grabs a microphone and shouts “War Games!” and that brings this week’s show to a close.

That’s it for this week’s NXT, let us know what you thought of the show and we’ll see you back here tomorrow night for AEW Dynamite. Until next time, stay safe.
