WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley is a true legend in the professional wrestling world. He has competed in various promotions all over the world and his contributions to the industry can never be understated. It seems he hated one of his most famous gimmicks.

Mick Foley used to be known as Mankind in the late 90s. One of the best things Mick Foley came up with was Mr. Socko, which was a great hit with fans and Superstars alike. Foley would use it as a finisher by naming it the Mandible Claw.

Mankind was certainly one of Mick Foley’s greatest characters as it helped put him over with the WWE audience in a huge way. Vince McMahon wasn’t a fan of Foley at first and it took a lot of convincing on Jim Ross’ part for him to hire Foley.

While speaking on the Talking Tough show, Mick Foley revealed that he hated his Mankind character. In fact, the mask restricted his ability to breathe properly.

“I hated that character because the mask was so… It really constricted my breathing, you know? With the leather underneath the nose. I needed as much oxygen as I could suck in anyway. But it came about because Jim Ross was a big advocate of mine, and Mr. McMahon was never interested in me. He thought I didn’t look like a star. And finally, my name came up in 1995, in the fall, he slammed it on the table, and he said, ‘Alright, I’ll bring him in, but I’m covering up his face.”

Mick Foley eventually became one of the top stars during the Attitude Era in WWE, especially thanks to his feud against The Rock. Foley will forever be respected for all the blood, sweat and tears he has shed for the industry and that is unlikely to ever change.
