WWE has a lot of plans for the future and the rumor mill loves to speculate about what is to come. Long-term booking might not be Vince McMahon’s style anymore, but The Rock’s schedule is a lot different. Dwayne Johnson might return to WWE at some point, but it’s not slated for Dallas.

The story going around is that WWE was holding out for The Rock vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38, just in case it can happen. That is not the case, because that match was never discussed.

Ringside News spoke to a tenured member of the creative team who shut down the idea that they were ever in a situation where The Rock might work that dream match. We were told that, “Reigns is not wrestling Rock at WrestleMania in Dallas. This has been the rumor forever and it’s never been the plan, ever.”

The Rock vs Roman Reigns could still happen, and it’s a big money match that is likely. WrestleMania 39 in SoFi Stadium seems a lot closer to Hollywood and Dwayne Johnson’s possible return to action would sell out that massive stadium in rapid fashion. We just know for sure that their match is not happening in Dallas.

Andrew Zarian reported that The Rock is expected for Survivor Series this year. That would be a great draw for the event, but he is not taking on Roman Reigns at next year’s WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns is headed to Saudi Arabia next to battle Brock Lesnar with the Universal Title on the line. We’ll have to see if The Tribal Chief can retain over the Beast Incarnate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but The Rock will probably be watching him closely.
