Cody Rhodes is the EVP of AEW and has remained a babyface in the company since its inception. Rhodes‘ is one of the top stars in the company, as he has competed in several memorable matches and great segments over the years.

Cody Rhodes lost to Chris Jericho for the AEW World Title at AEW Full Gear back in 2019, due to which he lost the right to ever challenge for the title again. So far, he has maintained that promise but that could be changing.

While speaking with Popculture, Cody Rhodes talked about keeping his word of not challenging for the AEW world title ever again. Rhodes stated that he regrets that decision and if Tony Khan decides to change things, he could, hinting at breaking Rhodes’ promise.

“I’m not going back on my word to challenge for the title. That stuff was real. It hurts. It is a large regret that that ever happened, but it did happen and I can live with it. And I got to do that dance with Chris Jericho, and I will not go back on that stipulation, me personally. If Tony wanted to change things, he could. And again, you can never say never in wrestling.”

Cody Rhodes also made it clear that he has no intention of ever turning heel in AEW, much to the dismay of fans. It remains to be seen if Cody Rhodes will ever be back in the AEW World Title scene somewhere down the line or not.
