Tonight’s SmackDown is set to feature Intercontinental Champion King Nakamura defend his title against the former champion, Apollo Crews. SmackDown will also feature Liv Morgan one on one with Zelina Vega and the debut of the all new Happy Corbin “Happy Talk” segment.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown

SmackDown begins live in Philadelphia with SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch making her way out to the ring. Lynch gives a show-opening promo where she says she came back on short notice after a year out and still won the title in record time, yet nobody threw her a party like Bianca Belair got last week. Lynch says that she had no choice last week but to embarrass Belair last week, even if she didn’t want to. Belair makes her way out to the ring to interrupt Lynch, Belair says that Lynch is holding on to the glory she got from a match that wasn’t supposed to happen. Belair says that everyone knows their rematch is happening at Extreme Rules, and that she will take back her title. Belair holds out her hand for Lynch to shake and Lynch slaps Belair in the face. Belair responds by backing Lynch to the corner with several hard strikes. Lynch escapes and tries to slam Belair but is countered and hit with the Kiss of Death from Belair.

King Nakamura is shown with Rick Boogs backstage and Toni Storm ready for the upcoming Intercontinental Championship match.

King Nakamura vs Apollo Crews

The title match begins with Crews hitting a kick to the gut. Nakamura hits a side heel kick and Crews dodges a knee in the corner. Crews hits a lariat and press slams Nakamura to the outside.

Back live with Crews having Nakamura in a headlock on the mat. Nakamura gets to his feet and Crews runs into a big boot in the corner. Nakamura hits the sliding German suplex and covers for two. Crews hits a standing drop kick off a Nakamura top rope dive. Nakamura hits a flying knee off the top rope and covers for two. Nakamura goes for the Kinshasa but Crews counters with an enziguri. Crews hits a Samoan drop and covers for two. Nakamura hits a spinning head kick and Crews rolls to the apron. Commander Azeez causes a distraction and Rick Boogs runs over to suplex Azeez. Back in the ring Nakamura gets a roll up for the three count.

Winner: King Nakamura

Montez Ford is interviewed backstage. Ford says that Dawkins is away for a friends weeding. Ford says The Street Profits have already beaten The Usos twice and at Extreme Rules they will take the tag team titles.

Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns are seen watching backstage. Reigns tells Heyman he wants a match with Ford tonight. Heyman ensures Reigns he will make it happen tonight.

SmackDown returns with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville approached backstage by Paul Heyman. Heyman says he has a main event for them, and then proposes Roman Reigns vs Montez Ford tonight. Pearce tells Heyman he thinks they can do that. Heyman walks away but comes back to say that after the match, they will talk about the draft.

A video is shown recapping Seth Rollins sending Edge away in an ambulance and his promo from last week where he officially challenges Edge to one more match and where he says he has to finish Edge one way or another. Rollins is shown live backstage where he says he has not heard a response to his challenge. Rollins says the sound of Edge’s silence is deafening, and it reveals the truth that Edge is hurt bad, and that he is ashamed that Rollins is the reason he may never compete again. Rollins says that while it is amusing, it is not enough. Rollins says that Edge will come to SmackDown next week and tell the world the truth, and if Edge doesn’t, Rollins will find Edge where he sleeps and beat the words out of him in front of Edge’s wife and children.

Liv Morgan vs Zelina Vega

Before the match begins, Carmella makes her way out to ring side. The bell rings and Morgan hits a drop kick immediately. Morgan dodges a lariat and gets a roll up for two. Vega puts Morgan in a sleeper hold like submission. Morgan is able to get to her feet. Vega is launched face-first to the corner. Carmella distracts Morgan and Morgan grabs Carmella by the hair. Vega takes advantage of the distraction to hit a code red and get the three count.

Winner: Zelina Vega

Happy Corbin makes his way out for the first ever Happy Talk show up next.

SmackDown returns with Corbin hosting Happy Talk. Corbin says that this is not going to be like other talk sows, specifically calling out the Kevin Owens show. Corbin says that for his first ever guest, it’s himself. Corbin calls himself the happiest person in the world. Corbin shows video footage of him attacking Kevin Owens from behind on last week’s SmackDown. Corbin calls Owens one of the toughest guys on the roster, yet he took him out with ease. Corbin is then interrupted by Kevin Owens who quickly walks to the ring but is ambushed by Riddick Moss, Corbin runs outside to double slam Owens onto the steel steps.

Newly crowned Women’s Tag Team Champions Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley make their way out for a Nikki singles match.

Nikki A.S.H. vs Natalya

The match begins with a lock up. Nikki hits a drop kick to the knees and covers for two. Natalya slams Nikki to the corner and gets hit with an elbow from Nikki. Tamina causes a distraction but Ripley pulls Tamina away. Nikki gets a roll up in the ring for the three count.

Winner: Nikki A.S.H.

After the match the team of Shotzi & Nox come out to confront the tag champions.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio are talking backstage, Dominik gets angry and Rey says he needs to give Dominik space and Rey leaves. Sami Zayn confronts Dominik and says that Rey is holding Dominik back and that he needs to rely on him less and his instincts more.

Back live with Naomi in the ring. Naomi calls out Sonya Deville and how she has constantly avoided giving Naomi a match. Naomi makes an open challenge for a match. Sonya Deville comes out to say that a match is not happening, and that she makes the matches, not her. Naomi calls for her to make a match between Naomi and Deville. Deville says she is no longer a competitor. After Naomi leads a crowd chant Deville calls for Naomi’s mic to be cut off, and Naomi’s mic is shut off. Deville calls out security to escort Naomi out of the ring.

Roman Reigns vs Montez Ford

The match begins with a lockup. Reigns hits a shoulder tackle and Ford leaps over Reigns and hits a drop kick to knock Reigns to the outside.

The match continues live with Reigns slamming Ford into the corner face-first. Reigns hits a lariat in the corner. Reigns continues to repeatedly strike Ford with corner lariats. Ford hits knife-edge chops and hits an enziguri. A lariat sends Reigns to the outside. Ford goes out to throw Reigns into the barricade. Ford tries to climb the announce table but the table collapses. Ford throws Reigns back in the ring and Reigns slams Ford to the mat and hits a running jumping lariat.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Reigns choking Ford using the ropes. Ford hits a kick and top rope cross body and covers for two. Reigns ducks an enziguri and Ford is able to hit a neck breaker and covers for two. Ford goes up top but Ford rolls away. Reigns hits a power slam and gets a two count from the cover. Ford avoids the Superman punch and hits a DDT and covers for two. Reigns hits a strong right hand, Ford throws Reigns shoulder-first to the ring post. Ford throws Reigns to the steel steps and throws Reigns back in the ring. Ford goes for the frog plash but Reigns counters with the knees. Reigns puts Ford in the guillotine submission and Ford taps out.

Winner: Roman Reigns

After the match Heyman gets on the mic and says that it was not enough for Ford’s sins. Heyman implores Reigns to show what happens when Reigns takes things to the extreme. The Usos make their way out to the ring. reigns gives them instructions and they hand Reigns a chair. Reigns attacks Ford with the chair as The Usos set up a table on the outside. Reigns slams Ford through the table. The lights go out and come back on in red light. Demon Finn Balor shows up on the ring post. Balor takes out The Usos with a dive. Balor throws Reigns in the ring and beats him down with a chair. Ford hits a top rope dive to reigns on the outside and the demon stares down Reigns as SmackDown goes off the air.
