Samoa Joe was forced to vacate the WWE NXT Title due to undisclosed injuries. This relinquishing came during time when NXT is breaking into a new era. NXT 2.0 will soon be on our television screens, and Samoa Joe will not be champion.

PW Insider reports that Samoa Joe’s break from in-ring action is not expected to be a long one. At this point, there is no word on when he will be back in the ring, but WWE medical were the ones who made the call.

Samoa Joe is not expected out of action for an extended period of time but there’s no word yet as to when he’ll be back.  We are told the decision to strip him was not a creative one but what was stated, WWE medical made the call, so the decision was made to strip Joe and crown a new champion tonight

There is also no word whether Joe will be at today’s taping, but they will crown a new NXT Champion. Tommaso Ciampa, LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Kyle O’Reilly will all battle in a fatal four-way match to become the new champion.

It was also reported that NXT is “trying to turn a negative into a positive by having the coronation of the next WWE NXT Champion as part of the NXT 2.0 broadcast.” We will have to see if that added interest along with NXT’s new era is able to stir up a larger rating.
