Kushida is a part of the NXT roster and is the current Cruiserweight Champion. After Kushida’s title defense against Roderick Strong was pulled from NXT in August, many have wondered as to why Kushida has been absent.

Kushida posted a video on his Instagram to explain the Cruiserweight Champion’s absence. In the video, Kushida announced that he and members of his family tested positive for COVID-19.

Kushida explained that the reason he missed his title defense on NXT is because of his positive test. Kushida revealed that everyone in his family is doing okay. Kushida also revealed that he is experiencing symptoms but is recovering.

With Kushida being the reigning Cruiserweight Champion, WWE has not made any plans on the title picture going forward yet. Kushida has also not confirmed a time table for his NXT return.
