Tomasso Ciampa is one of the biggest guns in NXT. His feud & former partnership with Johnny Gargano marks one of the finest storylines in NXT history. It makes sense that such a promising talent should transition to NXT, right? That doesn’t seem like the case at all.

Ciampa recently sat down in a conversation with Fightful. He revealed to them that while he recently revealed that he would rather retire than to move to the big roster, he said that fans haven’t understood the context behind the statement.

The NXT superstar revealed that his neck injury is primarily what drives his decision. If you could that with the kind of lifestyle of travel and constant movement for 300 days that accompanies a WWE superstar, it’s probably not the wisest move in the book.

Ciampa also cleared the air about what drives many people to retire, which is creative frustration. He said that it’s not what compels him to not choose RAW or SmackDown. He doesn’t prioritize winning or losing, and his peak performance is all he wishes to maintain.

Tomasso Ciampa recently made headlines with his potential team up with Johnny Gargano. The two are heralded as two of the best former tag teams in the NXT roster. With the inclusion of Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream, another great NXT feud, both Ciampa and Gargano have immortalized themselves in the roster.
