The New Day are still an incredibly popular act on WWE television despite the fact that they aren’t involved in an ongoing storyline. That will change soon enough as Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are primed to get involved with another duo on the red brand.

Woods and Kingston were spotted in the background during The Miz and John Morrison’s segment on RAW this week. During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer pointed out that it is WWE’s plan to start something between the two teams. They are simply beginning things slowly by teasing the program before it really kicks off.

“That is the program that they are going to do next. [Woods and Kingston] were running around in the back. Miz and Morrison were then doing the promo and Kofi and Xavier are like behind them. It’s supposed to be like ‘oh, they got caught on camera when they were hanging around. They had a sign up that said ‘buy our shirts’ and things like that. It’s like the beginning of something, so yeah.”

WWE split up the New Day, but that didn’t end their team. Big E might be on SmackDown now, but they are still allies. He proved that by saving Woods and Kingston while wearing a towel over the weekend.

We’ll have to see how The New Day vs Miz and Morrison turns out, but that seems like a program with some potential to entertain a lot of fans.
