Former WWE Champion and current WWE United States Champion Sheamus has had a great career in the company, winning multiple championships during his time in the company.

Sheamus made his debut back in 2009 as part of WWE’s version of ECW and in just a few months, he was called up to the main roster on Monday Night RAW. By December of 2009, Sheamus defeated John Cena to become the new WWE Champion, cementing his rise to the top.

While speaking to Ryan Satin’s Out of Character podcast, Sheamus revealed that he had a lot of heat on him backstage in WWE after winning the WWE Championship in such a short time.

“People were definitely not stoked, they were definitely not stoked. There was a lot of people who were p****d off with the situation that happened. A lot of guys had been there for years and never had that opportunity. The fact that when I won [laughs], the heat! The heat! So much heat, mate, so much heat. So much heat I thought I was going to get sunburnt in the backstage area. But, you know, they say if you’re not getting heat you’re not doing your job right.”

Sheamus went on to become a multi-time World Champion in the company and is one of the most respected veterans in the WWE locker room right now. We will have to see how his current run as the WWE United States Champion will be booked.
