Goldberg is set to wrestle Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam with the WWE Title on the line. Lashley has rejected Goldberg’s challenge so far, but the match is 100% happening. Goldberg is contracted to work two matches a year for WWE, and this will be his second. Unless something changes in his contract, Goldberg will be finished wrestling after August 21st.

While speaking to CarCast show, Goldberg revealed that WWE gave him eight weeks notice for his August 21st match against Lashley. Considering that Goldberg showed up on the RAW after Money in the Bank, that means he showed up on the red brand with a very short amount of time to prepare.

“This time they gave me eight weeks so Lashley’s gonna be pissed off about that one because I’ll be doubly ready this time. I’m actually looking forward to it man. I’ve been…we’ve talked in the past and it’s been like drudgery and I’ve been bitching and moaning all the time and I’m still bitching and moaning. I got a smile on my face because I know I’m more prepared than I was last time.”

Thankfully, WWE gave Goldberg more time to prepare for this match than they have in the past. This gives him a lot more time to prepare, something he said helps a lot at this stage in his career.

“I would say it helps exponentially, no question about that. I’m actually looking forward to it. It’s like putting time in at the track and being able to test actually before you have to go out and race.”

We’ll have to see how SummerSlam turns out. Goldberg was unable to defeat Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble, so this could be a very interesting time for Goldberg if he goes 0-2 in his only two matches year. We can also never count out WWE arranging more appearances for Goldberg, because he’s always open for business.
